Kansas City, Kansas restaurant and grocery store inspections for Oct. 23

Here are area restaurants and grocery stores with 7 or more priority or critical health code violations, with highlighted links to the original public record reports by city or county health inspectors and the Kansas Department of Agriculture. Links to follow-up inspections are also highlighted.

Restaurants correct most violations at the time of the original inspection or shortly thereafter. Links to the follow-up inspections show how each establishment has corrected or is working to correct any remaining violations.

The Kansas City Health Department cited these operations for seven or more critical health code violations:

▪ Taqueria Super Taco, 3616 Independence Ave., had 12 critical violations during an Oct. 16 routine inspection.

▪ Los Tules Restaurante & Cantina, 1656 Broadway, had 10 critical violations during an Oct. 14 routine inspection.

▪ Pizzabella, 1810 Baltimore Ave., had 10 critical violations during an Oct. 17 routine inspection.

▪ Thomas Restaurant, 1815 W. 39th St., had 10 critical violations during an Oct. 12 routine inspection.

▪ Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio, market, 2904 Independence Ave., had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 12 routine inspection.

▪ Extra Virgin, 1900 Main St., had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 14 routine inspection.

▪ Ruins Pub, 1715 Main St., had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 12 routine inspection. It had no critical violations during an Oct. 20 follow-up inspection.

▪ Gates Bar-B-Q, 3205 Main St., had 8 critical violations during an Oct. 13 routine inspection.

▪ Hy-Vee, deli, 5330 N.W. 64th St., had 7 critical violations during an Oct. 14 routine inspection.

▪ Spin Neapolitan Pizza, 4950 Main St., had 7 critical violations during an Oct. 12 routine inspection.

▪ Staley Farms Golf Club, 10310 N. Olive Ave., had 7 critical violations during an Oct. 13 routine inspection.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture has been transitioning to new inspection software since early August and reports from the last few week are now available. Direct links to the individual reports are not available at this time.

The department cited these operations for 7 or more priority health code violations in August.

▪ Camp Critter Bar & Grille, Great Wolf Lodge, 10401 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kan., had 15 priority violations during an Aug. 21 inspection following a complaint. It had 4 priority violations during a Sept. 11 follow-up inspection.

▪ Casa Agave 2, 1314 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 15 priority violations during an Aug. 26 inspection following a complaint.

▪ Chinatown Super Buffet, 151 S. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan., had 15 priority violations during an Aug. 20 routine inspection. It had 3 priority violations during a Sept. 8 follow-up inspection.

▪ Happy Foods West, 6700 Kaw Drive, Kansas City, Kan., had 13 priority violations during an Aug. 25 inspection following a complaint. It had 3 priority violations during a Sept. 8 follow-up inspection.

▪ Steve’s Meat Market, 32685 Lexington Blvd., De Soto, had 11 priority violations during an Aug. 20 follow-up inspection. It had 2 priority violations during a Sept. 3 follow-up inspection.

▪ Lin’s Chinese Restaurant, 13034 Kansas Ave., Bonner Springs, had 10 priority violations during an Aug. 10 routine inspection.

▪ Rubin Petroleum, 6433 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 10 priority violations during an Aug. 25 routine inspection.

▪ Suzie Q’s, 6720 Kaw Drive, Kansas City, Kan., had 10 priority violations during an Aug. 24 follow-up inspection.

▪ Jose Pepper’s, Legends Outlets, 1851 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 28 inspection following a complaint. It had 1 priority violation during a Sept. 8 follow-up inspection and 8 priority violations during an Oct. 8 inspection following a complaint.

▪ Saints Pub + Patio, 11900 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Shawnee, had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 26 inspection following a complaint. It had no priority violations during a Sept. 9 follow-up inspection.

▪ Supermarket El Torito, 1409 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 31 follow-up inspection.

▪ Torreador Mexican Cantina, 7926 Floyd St., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 28 routine inspection.

▪ Days Inn, 7721 S. Elizabeth St., Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 20 routine inspection. It had 2 priority violations during a Sept. 10 follow-up inspection.

▪ Hilton Garden Inn, 520 S. Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 10 routine inspection.

▪ Jack in the Box, 10317 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 19 inspection following a complaint. It had 1 priority violation during a Sept. 1 follow-up inspection.

▪ Jalapenos Taqueria, 3139 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 12 routine inspection. It had no priority violations during a Sept. 14 follow-up inspection.

▪ Salty Iguana, 8420 W. 135th St., Overland Park, had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 27 routine inspection. It had no priority violations during a Sept. 10 follow-up inspection.

▪ Whole Foods, 14615 W. 119th St., Olathe, had 7 priority violations during an Aug. 25 routine inspection. It had 1 priority violation during a Sept. 14 follow-up inspection.
