Nearly 12 years after opening his namesake Harry’s Country Club in the River Market, Harry Murphy is opening another restaurant and bar less than two blocks away.
Murphy and his daughter, Kate McGlaughlin, will open Brown & Loe Restaurant, in a 2,941-square-foot space at 429 Walnut St. in March 2016. They have been in negotiations for about a year.
The restaurant and bar will have a menu that will take advantage of its proximity to the market’s fresh produce and feature a patio on the northwest side, facing the market square. The menu hasn’t been finalized but items will include short ribs with collard greens, smoked hangar steak with parsnip potato cake, cornmeal encrusted rainbow trout with green tomato relish and a “market pie” of seasonal root vegetables with dark stout gravy and fried sage.
Entree prices will range from $9.95 to $17.95.
