KCK Quick’s barbecue celebrates 50 years
Quick’s Bar-B-Q & Catering is cranking out 1,000 slabs for its 50th anniversary today, May 14. A full slab will sell for $9.19 plus tax.
“When they're gone, they're gone,” said Dustin Quick, general manager and pitmaster of Quick’s, and grandson of the founder.
Quick’s also is offering 50 cent draw beers today.
“Dustin has been in the pit for about two days and we opened two hours early, 8 a.m.,” said Ron Quick, owner and son of the founder. “We are rocking. We’ve sold 150 already — frozen, refrigerated and fresh.”
Ron Quick’s wife is a server and helps manage the restaurant at 1007 Merriam Lane in Kansas City, Kan., and she keeps everyone in line, Ron Quick said.
Quick’s also offers barbecue sandwiches and dinners, salads, and chicken tenders.
“I think my father would be really proud we made it 50 years. He would have liked to have been here to see it,” Ron Quick said.
