Independence Center adds new retailers, restaurants

Independence Center has signed two new retailers.

Tilly’s, an “action sports” retailer selling surf and skate clothing, shoes and accessories, is scheduled to open in the center in May. It also has a store in Leawood.

Footlocker has expanded, adding a House of Hoops by Footlocker store next door. House of Hoops specializes in Nike footwear.

Two new restaurants, Teriyaki Grill and Fenway’s Steakburger, also recently opened in the center’s food court.

Teriyaki Grill is offering Japanese cuisine and Fenway’s is, of course, specializing in steakburgers. The Teriyaki Grill/Fenway’s Steakburgers partnership, which is based in Independence, also hopes to open the restaaurants in other Simon malls across the country

Independence Center, at 18801 E. 39th St. in Independence, has more than 130 tenants.
