Guadalajara Cafe to open in south Overland Park

Guadalajara Café closed in Watts Mill Plaza in February.

Now the owner is bringing it back as Guadalajara at 14861 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, in the former Frida’s Contemporary Mexican Cuisine space. Frida’s relocated in 2012.

Guadalajara’s owner, Gilberto Gutierrez, hopes to open the restaurant by mid-June. It will have the Guadalajara Cafe menu including Steak Picado, shrimp cocktail, tortilla soup, Huevos Rancheros, Chiles Rellenos, Pork Chile Verde, and Enchiladas en Mole.

Guadalajara Cafe opened in the mid-1990s at 1144 W. 103rd St. A sister Guadalajara Café is in Lee’s Summit but it has been under different ownership for a couple of years.
