Polished Nail Salon expanding in Power & Light District
After five years of operations, the Power & Light District’s Polished Nail Salon is nearly doubling in size.
The salon’s owners, Thu Nguyen and her brother Trung, decided to expand instead of opening a second location in another part of the metro. Business has increased every year since the shop opened in 2009, they said.
“Our clients live around here or they come from the area hotels and we wanted to do it for them,” said Thu Nguyen, who handles day to day operations at the salon.
The siblings are taking a space next door to the shop at 1221 Main St. The expanded salon will have 12 seats at the manicure bar, 12 pedicure stations, two new rooms for facial waxing and an expanded waiting area. The addition is scheduled to be completed in early May.
The Nguyens expect business to continue to increase with a new 33,000-square-foot fitness center, new 25-story apartment complex and new streetcar starter line opening in the district.
