Sugo’s Spaghetteria closes in south Overland Park

Less than two years after opening, Sugo’s Spaghetteria has closed in south Overland Park.

The casual, family-style Italian eatery opened at 13386 Metcalf Ave. in mid-2012. Menu items included specialty pizzas, pastas and salads.

It was the first Sugo’s outside of the St. Louis area for founder Michael Del Pietro who grew up in the restaurant business. His maternal grandparents and his parents owned restaurants just off the Hill in St. Louis' famed Italian immigrant neighborhood.

He couldn’t be reached for comment.

Kimberly Tranbarger of Colliers International confirmed the restaurant closed last week. She is the broker for the 3,532-square-foot restaurant space with outdoor patio in The Shoppes at Deer Creek Woods.
