Lenexa’s Esther’s African Cuisine restaurant closes to concentrate on catering
The owner of Esther’s African Cuisine has closed the restaurant to concentrate on catering.
Esther Mulbah opened the restaurant, at 12980 W. 87th St., Lenexa, in April 2013. But she said rent and other fees were set to jump $500 more a month.
“I have a new business. I can’t afford it,” she said.
She is partnering with a Kansas City commercial kitchen for the new catering operation. Esther’s catering is now offering a breakfast menu, two lunch menus, a dinner menu and a seafood menu. Items include collard greens, Jamaican beef or chicken patties, baked tilapia filet, fried ripe plantains, African doughnuts and milk candy.
