McDonald’s plans to open near new Merriam Ikea

Ikea’s new Merriam store is not set to open until this fall but it is already sparking other development nearby.

McDonald’s wants to open a restaurant at 8915 Johnson Drive, on the former Papa John’s site. The Papa John’s building would be torn down. If all goes as planned the restaurant would open later this year.

Hobby Lobby is going through city planning on a 55,000-square-foot store at 6001 Ikea Way, at Johnson Drive just south of QuikTrip.

The developers also want to put one or two more restaurants between Hobby Lobby and QuikTrip. Another site is available between Jack in the Box and Ikea.
