Marv’s Original Delicatessen closes in Leawood

Less than two years after opening, Marv’s Original Delicatessen has closed in Leawood.

The deli, at 11554 Ash St. in Park Place, closed over the weekend, according to Park Place officials. They are already in negotiations for another restaurant tenant for the 2,544 square foot space.

Owner Steve Kerner couldn’t be reached for comment.

He opened the breakfast-lunch-dinner operation in June 2012 in honor of his late father, a “true deli connoisseur” and partner in a couple of Chicago deli shops. Menu items included potato pancakes, cheese blintzes, crispy chicken livers, stuffed avocado salad, Chicago hot dogs, hamburgers, and deli sandwiches such fried bologna, tuna melts, meatloaf and barbecue brisket.

Café Roux formerly operated in the space.
