Thou Mayest coffee shop coming to the Crossroads next to Grinders

A year after opening their wholesale coffee roasting company, the owners of Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters are gearing up for their first coffee shop.

They have taken a space at 419 E. 18th St., next to Grinders in the East Crossroads. A spring opening is planned.

Thou Mayest’s menu will include coffee drinks and pastries. But it also will be a place where people can gather for “meaningful conversations.”

“When people say ‘let’s go get a cup of coffee’ that’s a conduit. What you want is a relationship,” said Bo Nelson, a partner in the business with Bill Holzhueter, Dave Mullikin and Brendon Hildreth. “We are local guys in a local startup wanting to promote and ‘cross-pollinate’ with other Kansas City businesses.”

That promotion will include a small retail area selling locally made products.

Thou Mayest also will have an event space upstairs and an outdoor deck in back overlooking outdoor live music venue CrossroadsKC.
