The Stack BBQ closes suddenly in south Kansas City

The Stack BBQ went dark recently with little notice.

Now George Bukaty of Greg Patterson & Associates said he is looking for a new restaurant owner to lease the space.

“They just kind of walked away. So everything is still there. The built-in stuff is going to stay for sure,” Bukaty said. “There is a nice front restaurant room and an equally large banquet room in back and a built-in smoker.”

Smokestack BBQ had previously operated in the space at 8920 Wornall Road. After it closed, one of its longtime employees partnered with a best friend from childhood who also had worked at Smokestack during the summers. Together they opened The Stack BBQ in early 2012.

The Stack partners couldn’t be reached for comment. Customers said the restaurant has been dark for two or three weeks.
