The owners of The Campground in the West Bottoms are opening a new concept across the state line.

Sagebrush, a craft cocktail bar, is taking an expanded space at 1639 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. If all goes as planned it would open in late summer or early fall.

Christopher Ciesiel and his wife, Cristin Llewellyn, opened The Campground, a restaurant and bar, in the former Genessee Royale Bistro building in 2018.

They are friends with the owners of Foxtrot Studio + Cafe, which is on the first floor of the Kansas City, Kansas, building. Foxtrot is a coffee shop and retail store selling handcrafted items.

“We already had a working relationship with them and they are good people, we trust them, they are creative and we feed off their energy,” Ciesiel said. “We wanted to be in that creative community. It’s a very close-knit neighborhood. It just felt right.”

The Sagebrush space is under construction but it will be an intimate space with a “Southwest vibe, light and airy,” Ciesiel said. It will also have a back entrance connecting to Foxtrot.

Ciesiel has long been known for his specialty cocktails and will create a new drink menu for Sagebrush.
