KC restaurant and bakery expanding to Johnson County with fresh pasta and grab-and-go
Midtown Kansas City’s Billie’s Grocery is expanding to Leawood.
Owner Robin Krause opened the first location near Union Hill in 2020. The restaurant and bakery serves mostly organic, nutrient-dense whole eats and desserts.
Now she will open in Ranchmart North, 3614 W. 95th St. A late summer or early fall opening is planned.
“It will be like Dean & DeLuca meets Billie’s. So a lot of retail, fresh pasta, grab-and-go, and full restaurant and bakery,” Krause said.
On the Billie’s Grocery menu
▪ Breakfast/brunch includes beet hummus avocado toast, smoked salmon bagels, Billie’s Bowl (two creamed eggs, mushrooms, bacon, onion, garlic, organic kale, brown rice, quinoa, avocado, sourdough, sriracha and sea salt), biscuit sandwiches, carnita burritos, bacon banana waffles and quiche.
▪ All day menu items include handhelds such as fried chicken sandwiches, Korean chicken wraps, Reubens, miso wild caught salmon burgers and beef burgers (with fries, sweet potato fries or wild greens salad), along with a soup of the day, sesame chicken salad and Thai bowls.
▪ Gluten-free bakery items include buttermilk biscuits and ham, cinnamon rolls, frosted sugar cookies, peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie sandwiches, oatmeal cream pies, cupcakes, mini tarts and cheesecakes, and cakes.
▪ Drinks: juices, smoothies and a full-bar.
The Leawood location will be in a new mixed-use building behind Meat Mitch BBQ. An office tenant is on the top floor.
Krause previously owned Filling Station and also owns Billie’s Juicery in East Brookside. She was looking to expand Billie’s Grocery in either Johnson County or the Northland, but she grew up in Prairie Village so knows the area a little better.
