Another Andy’s Frozen Custard coming to Kansas City, and one in JoCo opens this week

Springfield’s Andy’s Frozen Custard is adding another Kansas City location.

It plans a fall opening for the new freestanding shop in Tiffany Square East, 6000 N.W. 88th St. It will have a drive-thru, walk-up window and patio.

Andy’s has 131 company-owned and franchised locations in 15 states.

It will have a dozen in the metro when a new location opens Wednesday at 11220 Nall Ave., Overland Park (its fourth location in Overland Park). It will have a grand opening on March 24.

Andy’s plans to open more than 25 new locations this year and has more than 100 locations in development.

Former Raytown residents founded the company nearly 40 years ago with a mission to use only the freshest ingredients.

John and Carol Kuntz opened the first Andy’s in Osage Beach, Missouri, naming it after their son Andy, who is now president and chief executive officer.

The menu includes concretes, hot fudge sundaes, banana splits, malts, shakes, frozen custard blended sodas, floats and seasonal treats such as the current Mint Creme Oreo concretes and shakes, as well as strawberry shortcake sundaes starting in late April and pumpkin pie concretes starting in mid-September.
