Northland’s Wings Cafe opening in Westport
Wings Cafe, the Northland’s “artisan chicken wings and fish” restaurant, is opening a Westport venue.
It plans an early September opening at 3927 Broadway. Little Egypt Cafe recently operated in the space.
Five family members opened Wings Cafe in August 2012 at 516 N.W. Englewood Road. Along with a variety of wings, it offers chicken strips, fish fillets, catfish, shrimp, and such sides as carrots and celery, corn nuggets, and sweet potato fries.
Wings also can be ordered in family packs of up to 200. The new Westport location also will offer craft beers and specialty cocktails.
“It puts us in the heart of the city,” said Lee Redwood, partner.
Wings Cafe also has special tasting events every quarter, introducing four to eight sauces, as well as offering four to six of its regular wing sauces.
It recently played host to nearly a dozen local breweries, distilleries and coffee roasters, as well as a couple of breweries outside the metro. Wings Cafe walked them through its process of creating sauces not typically used on wings, such as its coconut curry, smoked sriracha and Boulevard Pale Ale Honey Jalapeno sauces.
Wings Cafe plans to feature some of the sauces along with the matching beers, spirits and coffee.
