Kansas City’s newest ghost kitchen has a barbecue menu with a multicultural twist.

Jesse Goodeyon has opened Goods by Good in The Levee Bar & Grill, 16 W. 43rd St.

It has such appetizers as spam musubi, kebabs and jumbo smoked Thai wings.

For handhelds there’s The Pioneer (a sesame seed bun topped with a choice of protein, shredded red cabbage slow roasted in soy sauce, pepper jack cheese and spicy mayo drizzle), and the Goods Hefty Hawaiian Philly (a Philly roll with a choice of protein, pepper jack cheese, sauteed red onions, jalapeno and pineapple, topped with spicy mayo drizzle).

The protein selections are grilled Hawaiian chicken, smoked Thai pork, grilled steak and grilled shrimp. Goodeyon also has tacos, rice bowls, salads and wraps, and he offers veggie options and different spicy levels.

He also does catering.

His parents divorced when he was young, and he became a sous chef for his late mother, prepping dinner for her to finish when she got off work.

“I don’t think I ever saw my dad cook. Our eating together was always prepared by someone else. I never saw him pick up anything but a fork,” Goodeyon said with a laugh.

After college, he started cooking at home more often while working in corporate sales for eight years. During COVID he got even more creative in the kitchen.

He started Goods by Good in September 2020 as a pop-up at area festivals and farmers markets. A ghost kitchen — with to-go and delivery only — seemed like the best next step in expanding the eatery.

“I don’t have a partner so I feel this is the best way to eliminate some overhead,” he said.

Hours are 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays.

Customers order through the website goodsbygoodkc.com or through third party delivery services. For carryout, there is a pickup window on 43rd Street.

When the Levee’s kitchen closes at 10 p.m., its customers can order from Goods by Good to eat in the bar.

“We wanted to offer our guests another choice for good late night food,” said Chad Sander, partner in the Levee.
