Locally owned chocolatier opening in the Crossroads
Bizz & Weezy Confections is coming to the Crossroads.
The locally owned chocolatier is taking a space at 1800 Baltimore Ave. for a scheduled Aug. 1 opening.
The company was founded in 2010 by Jonathan and Amy Pitcher in the basement of their Olathe home.
Jonathan Pitcher had been baking as many as 12 dozen cookies to take in the office, then added fudge to his lineup. Co-workers kept asking if they could purchase his treats and soon the couple had an online business. In 2013 they moved the operation into an 1,800-square-foot professional kitchen.
They now offer eight caramel flavors — but said they have perfected 40. At the new retail shop they will offer about a dozen different caramels, as well as hand-dipped apples, truffles, turtles, chocolate dipped Oreo’s, an assortment of chocolate and nuts, gluten-free items, Kaldi’s Coffee, house-made cinnamon rolls, croissants, scones, and other pastries.
“We like the vibe in the Crossroads and being in an environment where people are always expressing themselves or trying something new,” said Jonathan Pitcher. “We are excited and nervous and stressed all in a ball. But we love watching our customers’ faces when they try one of our caramels.”
