Johnson County restaurant closed after 38 years. Sports grill & pizzeria will move in
The Other Place, a sports-themed pizzeria and grill, is coming to Mission.
It has signed a lease for 6522 Martway St. An early 2023 opening is scheduled.
A general manager confirmed the new location but declined further comment.
Italian Delight by Avelluto previously operated in the space for 38 years before closing in May 2021, blaming the pandemic.
The Other Place’s menu includes specialty pizzas such as the Maui (with Canadian bacon and pineapple) and the Sicilian with Italian sausage. It also has soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps.
The Other Place was founded in 1970 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It now has 11 locations — Olathe, Overland Park and Shawnee in Kansas and the others in Iowa.
The 4,050-square-foot corner space is in Mission West Shopping Center, which is leased and managed by Block & Co. Inc. Realtors. Phil Peck and Dakota Grizzle represented The Other Place, and David M. Block, Max Kosoglad and Darren Siegel represented the property ownership group in the lease negotiations.
