Post-pandemic, consumers will be looking to get away from their homes and computers and get together in public with friends and family, shopping center experts say.

Overland Park’s new Brkthrough is counting on it.

Braden Holcomb, Caroline Irving and Ty Hardamon are teaming up on the new 22,500-square-foot live-action, team-based entertainment complex in Corbin Park.

It will have 40 different high-tech game rooms, where customers have physical, mental and/or skill based challenges.

Each team — two to four members — will receive a radio-frequency identification bracelet, which will allow them to enter a room and keep track of their points (for a maximum 100). They will have three minutes in each room.

Then they can go for another round in that room to improve their score or head to a different room. Customers can sign up for two hours of play at $29.99 or four hours at $39.99.

Scores for the day, the month and “all time” will be posted on a leader board. They also can win prizes for different levels.

The themed rooms will include Jungle, Submarine, Hoops and Quiz. A room called Scurry will be partially open to the main facility so other customers can watch the players scurrying around on their hands and knees to get points.

The owners said Brkthrough will be “fast-paced, super fun and engaging.”

“It’s a really fun activity for a large demographic of ages, bringing people together in an immersive experience — families, corporate events, friends, schools and churches,” Holcomb said. “You can come here and play 40 different rooms with different skill sets for team members.”

Its Brk Room will offer such items as cheeseburgers, Buffalo chicken salad, pulled pork sandwiches, smothered tots, flatbread pizza and s’mores fondue.

It will have 20 wines, beers and ciders on self-pour taps.

Groups can rent private event spaces or the entire facility. The owners expect to book corporate events, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and family outings and celebrations. It can hold 400 people.

It plans a mid-to-late November opening at 6403 W. 135th St., Suite E4. It is taking most of the former Stein Mart space.

The partners have known one another for more than a decade and have backgrounds in other entertainment centers such as Sky Zone trampoline park.
