Coming to Chiefs games at Arrowhead: Doritos-encrusted empanadas and all sorts of BBQ

When the Kansas City Chiefs return home to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 15, fans at the game will have some new menu items to fuel up on.

Aramark Sports + Entertainment, the food and beverage partner at 10 NFL venues including GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, said it is offering new takes on traditional fan favorites as well as new technology.

Local restaurants

Buck Tui BBQ: The Overland Park Thai barbecue restaurant will offer a smoked pulled pork sandwich, barbecue brisket sandwich, loaded pulled pork fries, barbecue brisket fries and barbecue chili crunch nachos. (sections 121 and 339)

“I’m a K.C. native and a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. We’re really happy to be partnering with the Chiefs,” said Teddy Liberda, the restaurant’s founder and owner.

Jousting Pigs BBQ: The restaurant, with locations in Liberty and Kansas City, Kansas, will offer smoked pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue brisket sandwiches, loaded pulled pork fries and barbecue brisket nachos. (sections 107 and 316).

“We’re really excited to be there. I grew up as a Chiefs fan so just being a tiny part of it on game day is a dream come true,” said John Atwell, partner and founder.

Prices weren’t available for Buck Tui and Jousting Pigs at Arrowhead.

New Aramark items

Quesadillas: Choice of chicken or steak with cheddar jack cheese, sour cream and salsa pico de gallo, $15.79. (KCDilla in section 135)

Stockyard burger: Hamburger topped with pulled pork, cheddar jack cheese, and ghost pepper barbecue sauce, served with kettle chips, $15.85. (sections 109, 127, 321 and 345)

Vegetarian nachos: Traditional nachos topped with roasted corn and black bean relish, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole, $11.50. (sections 131 and 322)

Doritos-encrusted empanadas: With ground beef, onions, cheddar jack cheese and avocado crema, $12. (section 111)

Self-serve operation

Bartesian, bar-quality cocktails at the push of a button. It will be in suites and on a mobile bar cart. Customers must prove their age with a valid government issued ID.

Arrowhead also will expand kiosk ordering at its Walk Thru Bru and John Dough Pizza Co. locations.

Gear Up with Mobile Scan and Go will be one of the first scan-and-go shopping experiences in an NFL stadium.

Fans will use the Chiefs’ mobile app to scan the bar code for Chiefs apparel and merchandise they want to purchase and then check out through their phone. (section 209).

Chefs on the Road also is coming to the NFL this season. Executive chefs from across participating Aramark Sports + Entertainment NFL venues will travel with the team to away games and serve their iconic, hometown dish in the club level of the host team’s stadium. More information will be available later in the season.
