Two Kansas City area restaurants cited for roaches and other health code violations
Two Kansas restaurants were recently cited for roach infestations.
▪ Chili’s Grill & Bar, Legends Outlets Kansas City, 1710 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas, had five priority violations during a Nov. 19 routine inspection.
It was cited when it did not cease operations and notify the department of the imminent health hazard of 30 plus live cockroaches that may endanger public health.
Its last pest control invoice was dated Nov. 16. It temporarily closed to correct the violations.
It had one priority violation during a reopening inspection on Nov. 21 and was allowed to reopen.
In a statement, Chili’s said: “The health of our Guests is always our top priority, and we maintain very strict standards of quality, safety and cleanliness in our restaurants. We took quick, corrective action and worked closely with the Health Department to address this issue.”
▪ Godavari, 7328 W. 119th St., Overland Park, had 11 priority violations during a Nov. 17 inspection following a complaint.
The restaurant was cited for not ceasing operations and notifying the department of the imminent health hazard of pest infestation and no hot water available at every distribution point.
The inspector found five live roaches. The last pest control invoice dated Nov. 9.
The restaurant was asked to close voluntarily until the hot water could be restored and the restaurant could be reinspected.
But the inspector said the restaurant was still operating later that day with customers at two tables and three orders to-go. The person in charge said the plumber was still working on restoring the hot water.
It had no priority violations during a Nov. 18 reopening inspection.
The owner declined to comment.
