Why are Kansas Citians so excited that the first of many Whataburgers is opening in the metro?
Have they been craving those burgers and fries and shakes and breakfast biscuits? Or are they just happy for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who grew up with Whataburger in Texas and finally gets his beloved restaurant, complete with his beloved ketchup, closer to his adopted home?
Regardless, the first area Whataburger is set to open in Lee’s Summit on Monday, with 13 more due around the area over the next few months or so. (Mahomes is a part owner in eight of them.)
