Veterans Day 2021: Here are some meals, deals and discounts in the Kansas City area

The following restaurants are offering special discounts to veterans and active duty military for Veterans Day. Military ID is required in most cases. Veterans should call ahead to verify requirements and participating locations.

We will be adding to this list as companies finalize their offerings. If you have a Veterans Day meal, deal and/or discount, email it, using the format in the list below, to jsmith@kcstar.com under the subject line “Veterans Day 2021.”

Unless otherwise noted, these specials are valid only on Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11).

▪ Bamboo Penny’s, Leawood: 50% off any lunch or dinner entrée. Dine-in only.

▪ Bonefish Grill, Leawood, Northland: Its Heroes Discount offers 10% off for all service members, veterans and first responders all day, every day with valid ID.

▪ Casey’s, multiple area locations: Free small coffee.

▪ Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, 9000 N.W. Skyview Ave.: Free pulled pork sandwich.

Also, from Nov. 11 through Dec. 31, Dickey’s Barbecue At Home will take 15% off all orders for veterans when they use the code VETERAN15. Barbecue At Home ships products nationwide.

▪ Fareway Meat Market: 15% discount (excludes tobacco, lottery tickets and gift cards) in-store only.

▪ Fazoli’s, multiple area locations: Free regular spaghetti, with meat or marinara, on Wednesday and Thursday. Valid at participating locations only.

▪ 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar, multiple area locations: Free entrée up to $14 for dine-in only. Not valid with other offers.

▪ Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers: Card for free Freddy’s Original Double combo meal on Nov. 11 (valid through Nov. 30). No purchase necessary to receive or redeem the cards.

▪ KC Thai Restaurant, Overland Park: 50% off any lunch or dinner entrée. Dine-in only.

▪ Kolache Factory, Overland Park, Shawnee: Free kolache and a cup of coffee.

▪ Lion’s Choice, multiple area locations: Free large cone (no purchase necessary). It also offers a 20% discount on the entire order year-round to veterans).

▪ Minsky’s Pizza Cafe & Bar, multiple area locations: Free small gourmet pizza or build-your-own pizza with up to four toppings. Dine-in only.

▪ Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, Independence, Northland, Olathe: Free starter with the purchase of an entrée, dine-in only and a value of up to $11.99 (it excludes Old Chicago’s Keg of Wings).

▪ On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, several area locations: Free Pick 2 Combo.

▪ Taco John’s, several area locations: Free small beef taco combo meal with promo code “VETERAN” under the MORE tab in the Taco John’s app. For dine-in or to-go.

▪ Thai House, south Kansas City: 50% off any lunch or dinner entrée. Dine-in only.

▪ Torchy’s Tacos, south Kansas City, Lawrence, Olathe, Overland Park. Complimentary taco and non-alcoholic beverage for dine-in or carryout.

Also, Westlake Ace Hardware stores will offer one free knife sharpening from Thursday through Sunday.
