On the menu at new Kansas City Thai eatery: Bento, curry, sushi, deep-fried bananas

The former owners of a Nebraska Thai restaurant are opening a similar concept in south Kansas City.

Nisana Sunvijit and her husband, Curtis Basina, plan to open Cozy Thai in Watts Mill Plaza next week. They are taking the former Thai Spice space at 1032 W. 103rd St. Two of their chefs, Chalit Srimueang and Natchayut Darawong, are minority partners.

Cozy Thai will feature chef’s specials such as roasted duck (with a choice of tamarind sauce, spicy basil sauce or pineapple curry), deep-fried catfish, and mango salmon with red curry.

Cozy Thai’s KC Roll, left, with shrimp tempura, cream cheese and avocado topped with crab, and its deep fried JB roll with salmon and cream cheese, dipped in tempura batter, deep fried and topped with unagi sauce.

It will have lunch bento boxes for $11.95. Lunch specials will be $9.95 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
