‘Sweet & Saucy & Bold & Spicy’: Dallas-based wing chain expanding into south Kansas City
Dallas-based Wingstop is expanding locally with a new location in south Kansas City.
It plans a February opening at 8019 State Line Road.
Menu items include classic wings, boneless wings, and chicken tenders cooked-to-order. They can be hand-sauced-and-tossed in the customer’s choice of 11 different flavors, including mango habanero, spicy Korean, garlic Parmesan and hickory-smoked barbecue. Wings also can be ordered “dry” with dry rub or sauce on the side, and from “no heat” to “all the heat.”
The most popular flavors are lemon pepper with just a one flame rating for hotness and Original Hot with a three flame rating. Atomic is the hottest with five flames.
Sides include fresh-cut seasoned fries, cheese fries, Buffalo ranch fries, veggie sticks, fresh baked rolls, Cajun fried corn, Louisiana Voodoo fries with Cajun seasoning, and freshly-made ranch and bleu cheese dips. It also will have triple chocolate chunk brownies.
It will be open for carryout and delivery only at first.
It also sells branded T-shirts, sweatshirts with the words “Sweet & Saucy & Bold & Spicy,” socks, hats, bomber jackets, joggers, lemon pepper car air fresheners shaped like a chicken wing, stickers, car decals, tote bags, and phone cases.
The company was founded in 1994 and currently has more than 1,500 corporate and franchise locations internationally, including several in the Kansas City area. Another new location opened this month at 6852 Johnson Drive in Mission.
