Need a Father’s Day plan? KC-area restaurants offer dine-in specials, to-go grill kits
Dad may be making his own Father’s Day meal this year, with a little help.
As dining rooms slowly reopen after the COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders, many restaurants are giving families an option this holiday — dining in or buying a kit to make the meal at home.
The kits include meat or seafood for grilling, along with prepared sides and desserts.
One question. Do the kits count as a meal and a gift?
On average, consumers plan to spend $148.58 on Father’s Day this year, making it a $17 billion holiday, according to a recent survey of 8,209 adults by the National Retail Federation. About 75 percent of consumers surveyed plan to celebrate Father’s Day, but 58 percent planned to celebrate it virtually.
Top gift categories include personal care products, and tools and appliances for the home or garden.
But many people — particularly those under the age of 35 — want to give gifts that are unique or that create a special memory.
Here are some area restaurants running special Father’s Day promotions. We will be updating the list. Please send in the following format to Daniel Zeilstra at dzeilstra@kcstar.com under the subject Father’s Day:
