Streetwear store offering Gucci, Louis Vuitton items headed to Crown Center Shops

A New Jersey-born boutique is headed to the Crown Center Shops.

Initial, a high-end streetwear shop, plans to open Feb. 22 on the second floor, across from Amy’s Hallmark.

Halim Lee and Ivan Qiu are partnering on the 964-square-foot store, which will feature such brands as Gucci, Nike, Comme des Garcons, Louis Vuitton and Vape Apparel. Clothing and collectible sneakers will account for about 80 percent of the inventory. Other items will include accessories and collectible toys. It also will have consignment items.

“People like the variety of the selection and stuff you don’t see too often, collectibles,” Qiu said.

Initial, 2450 Grand Blvd., Suite 205, will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Qiu helped open the first Initial in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 2014. He met Lee, a Kansas City native, through Lee’s brother. The two then teamed up to bring the concept to the metro.

They first operated on Southwest Trafficway from July 2017 to July 2019, but closed the shop after a burglary where they lost nearly $60,000 worth of merchandise, Qiu said.
