Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que has a new Z-Man; makes Yelp list of top 100 places to eat

The three Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que restaurants will roll out a new Z-Man sandwich today. But it will only be around for a short time.

The Impossible Z-Man comes the traditional way with toasted Kaiser bun, barbecue sauce, smoked provolone and onion rings, but with a plant-based protein patty instead of meat.

Tagline: “If you thought the Z-Man was just for carnivores, we say, Impossible!”

“We’re excited to offer this to people and see how they like it,” said Joe’s spokesman Doug Worgul. “It deserves its place in the Z-Man family.”

The Impossible Z-man will be offered in a week-long test. But if it does well it could return to the menu.

Z-Man is on the permanent menu with slow-roasted beef brisket, chicken, pork or portobello.

Yelp also put Joe’s Kansas City on its new “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2020.” Joe’s has the No. 68 spot.

The national list is based on ratings and a number of reviews in 2019 across the United States, and it is curated by Yelp’s community managers.

Joe’s Kansas City’s original location is in Kansas City, Kansas. It also has restaurants in Leawood and Olathe.
