Pokesan partner opens MaMa Ramen in the Crossroads with create-your-own bowls

Jack Zheng is a partner in a new Crossroads poke concept, Pokesan, which opened this summer on the second level of a building at 1513 Grand Blvd.

Now he has teamed up with his brother, Rick Zheng, on a new concept for the first level, MaMa Ramen, opening Jan. 9.

Menu: Customers fill out a form with their name, whether they are dining in or taking it to go, and any special requests or allergies.

Then they can check an appetizer — the list includes crab Rangoon, edamame, pork belly buns, spring rolls and fried chicken.

They create their own ramen bowls. The bowls come with seaweed and boiled egg, then a choice of wavy or straight noodles; one broth from a choice of five; one protein from a choice of chicken, beef, vegetable, pork belly or kimchi; and three toppings from such selections as red ginger, corn and bamboo shoot.

Spice levels range from none to very hot. A small size is $10.95, large $12.95.

Other menu items include Ramune (Japanese beverage) and cheesecake.

Where: First floor of 1513 Grand Blvd. (the former Kokothai space), near the Sprint Center.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday; noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
