Just over a year after opening south of the Country Club Plaza, Elly’s Brunch & Cafe has shuttered.

A sign on the door says: “Elly’s will be closing early on 11/18/2018. At 1:00 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks management.”

Elly’s leased a 5,300-square-foot corner space in the 4800 Main building, formerly home to the Kansas City Board of Trade. Menu items included chicken and waffles, signature omelets, salads, bowls and specialty burgers. It was open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

AREA Real Estate Advisors, the broker for 4800 Main, confirmed the closing.

Officials with Elly’s did not return phone calls or emails. Elly’s website lists a half dozen locations in the Chicago area, as well as one in Arizona.

Other tenants in the 4800 Main building include Populous, Stock Hill steakhouse and Larkburger.

The Omaha-based Eat Fit Go also recently closed its location in 4800 Main, as well as two of its six corporate-owned locations in Omaha, as part of a bankruptcy reorganization. It has four other corporate-owned stores in Johnson County. A Shawnee location is owned by a franchisee.
