Independence Center adding City Gear, Ooh La La blow dry bar
Independence Center has signed two more tenants for summer openings.
▪ City Gear, a national men’s clothing store chain, will open on the upper level near Macy’s in late June. It specializes in trendy street wear, headwear and footwear. Brands include New Balance, Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Timberland, and Akoo. The Memphis-based company was founded in 1978 as Marty’s and changed its name to City Gear in mid-2012. It currently has 122 locations including five in the Kansas City area.
▪ Ooh La La, a blow dry bar, plans a late summer opening on the upper level near Dillard’s. It will offer such services as hair styling, weaving, extensions, eyebrow shaping, eyelash extensions, skin care, spray tanning and makeup. The Chicago-based company has five locations, including one in Oak Park Mall in Overland Park.
Other new tenants coming to Independence Center, at Missouri 291 and Interstate 70, include Maurices, a women’s clothing store which is scheduled to open June 12, and Dick’s Sporting Goods which plans to open in early 2016.
