After nearly 25 years of operations, the Northland Hen House Market is closing.

The store at 6238 N. Chatham Ave. will shut down at the end of business on April 16.

Grocery store manager Larry Zirkel blamed the closing on "lack of sales."

He said the employees will transfer to other Balls Food Stores, including its Price Chopper locations.

Officials with Balls Food Stores couldn't be reached for comment.

Hen House took over the former Food Barn space and remodeled it for a 1994 opening.
