Arcade bar opening in midtown’s Martini Corner
The former Empire Room at 334 E. 31st St. will reopen as arcade bar Rock-afire. Owner Titus Bond plans an early April opening.
It will feature mostly 1980s and 1990s arcade games and pinball. Bond has one of the animatronic robot bands, the Rock-a-fire Explosion, from the former ShowBiz Pizza Place, a national pizza and family-entertainment chain. But he will retool it to play 1980s and 1990s music.
Bond also owns Sissy’s Breakfast & Lunch in the Northland. He said the Empire Room closed about nine months ago.
