Maurices to open in Ward Parkway Center

Women’s clothing store chain Maurices is coming to Ward Parkway Center.

According to the shopping center, Maurices plans a July 12 opening in a 6,640-square-foot space at 8600 Ward Parkway, Suite 1016, near Trader Joe’s. The new tenant will bring the Ward Parkway side of the center to full occupancy.

Maurices has more than 920 stores across the country and in three Canadian provinces. The chain was founded in 1931 and is in expansion mode with more than 250 stores opening in the last six years.

The stores sell “affordable fashion” in sizes 1-to-24, as well as accessories. Other area locations are in Belton, Blue Springs, Kansas City, Kan., Lee’s Summit, Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee and the Northland.

Maurices is a subsidiary of Ascena Retail Group. Ascena’s other brands are Catherines, Dressbarn, Justice, and Lane Bryant.
