Kansas restaurants temporarily shut down for health code violations

The Kansas Department of Agriculture cited these operations for health code violations. The eateries were temporarily shut down to correct the violations and have since reopened.

▪ B’s BBQ & Soulfood, 2110 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan., had 13 priority violations during a Nov. 30 follow-up inspection to an administrative order. The licensee “did not cease operations and notify the KDA of the imminent health hazard of rodents” in the restaurant so it temporarily shut down.

It had one priority violation during a Dec. 6 reopening inspection for 20 fresh mouse droppings. The person in charge cleaned up the area and the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

The owner said the violations were corrected.

▪ Fronteras Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, 7779 Quivira Road, Lenexa, had 12 priority violations during a Dec. 4 follow-up inspection to an administrative order. The licensee did not cease operations and notify the Kansas Department of Agriculture of the imminent health hazard of inadequate refrigeration so the restaurant temporarily shut down.

It had no violations during a Dec. 5 reopening inspection and was allowed to reopen.

The manager declined to comment

▪ Lins Chinese Restaurant, 13034 Kansas Ave., Bonner Springs, had 13 priority violations during a Dec. 4 routine inspection. The licensee did not cease operations and notify the Kansas Department of Agriculture of the imminent health hazard of “gross insanitary conditions of the kitchen.” A reopening was approved but the restaurant “must continue to clean for the follow-up inspection.”

The owner said the restaurant was only closed for a few hours.

▪ Wilson’s Pizza & Grill & Grocer, 1801 Quindaro Blvd., Kansas City, Kan., had 10 priority violations during a Dec. 4 routine inspection. The licensee “did not cease operations and notify the KDA of the imminent health hazard of rodents.”

It had more than 50 fresh mouse droppings under a storage rack, in pizza pans, on top of old records in the back storage area, more than 50 mouse droppings along the edge of the wall within the front food preparation area and more than 20 mouse droppings in a storage space in the front waiting area.

It had no priority violations during a Dec. 5 reopening inspection and was allowed to reopen.

The owner declined to comment.
