▪ Foody’s, a family-owned American-style restaurant, has opened in Olathe.
The restaurant, at 18595 W. 151st St., serves such items as cheese and bacon fries, chicken bacon ranch wraps, build-your-own hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, pork sandwiches and Big Daddy hot dogs.
Breakfast is served all day and includes breakfast plates and sides including country fried chicken with gravy; sausage, egg and cheese biscuit; oatmeal with brown sugar; and sweet potato fries.
Frank and Susan Furstenberg are the owners and their son Frank Furstenberg III is general manager with plans to become the owner one day and expand the concept.

“We are taking it one day at a time with plans to build our clientele,” said Frank Furstenberg III.
Starting Saturday, Foody’s will offer daily featured items. Saturday’s selection will be french toast with two eggs and choice of ham, sausage and bacon, as well as lasagna with garlic toast and green beans. Other featured items for next week will be fish and chips, open-faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, and a foot-long Philly cheesesteak with fresh cut fries.
▪ A long dark space in the heart of Westport is being readied for a new restaurant tenant. Louisiana Prime New Orleans Chophouse began working on the 3,500-square-foot former Japanese steakhouse at 556 Westport Road in early 2013. But it never completed construction and the space — between the new AC Hotels by Marriott Kansas City Westport and Freebirds World Burrito — has sat empty.
But new owners took over the Westport Landing shopping center in mid-2014 and are now renovating the space and looking for another restaurant tenant.
They also are in final negotiations for a national restaurant chain that wants to take over a 3,000-square-foot building at 4040 Mill St. for their first area location. The building had been home to a Boston Market before Verizon opened in the space.
