Kansas, Kansas City restaurant and grocery store inspections for Oct. 24

Here are area restaurants with 7 or more priority or critical health code violations, with highlighted links to some original public record reports by city or county health inspectors.

Restaurants correct most violations at the time of the original inspection or shortly thereafter. Links to the follow-up inspections show how each establishment has corrected or is working to correct any remaining violations.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture cited these operations for 7 or more priority health code violations (direct links are not available):

▪ El Poblano Taqueria, 1003 Osage Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 12 priority violations during an Oct. 3 routine inspection.

▪ Einstein Bros Bagels, 8600 College Blvd., Overland Park, had 10 priority violations during an Oct. 13 routine inspection.

▪ Chinese Palace, 10136 W. 119th St., Overland Park, had 9 priority violations during an Oct. 13 routine inspection.

▪ Hy-Vee Food Store, 8900 W. 135th St., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during an Oct. 10 routine inspection.

▪ Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 1700 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during an Oct. 4 inspection following a complaint.

▪ El Fogon Mexican, 10450 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, had 7 priority violations during an Oct. 10 routine inspection.

▪ Fortune Palace, 12102 W. 87th St., Lenexa, had 7 priority violations during an Oct. 3 routine inspection. It had no priority violations during an Oct. 14 follow-up inspection.

▪ Waffle House, 4500 Kansas Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during an Oct. 10 follow-up inspection.

▪ Red Snapper, 8430 Ward Parkway, had 12 critical violations during an Oct. 5 routine inspection. It had 4 critical violations during an Oct. 13 follow-up inspection.

▪ Bo Lings Chinese, Zona Rosa, 8670 N.W. Prairie View Road, had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 6 routine inspection. It had 3 critical violations during an Oct. 11 follow-up inspection and no critical violations during an Oct. 18 follow-up inspection.

▪ Avenues Bistro, 338 W. 63rd St., had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 11 routine inspection.

▪ Chelly’s Cafe, 214 W. 85th St., had 9 critical violations during an Oct. 7 routine inspection. It had 3 critical violations during an Oct. 13 follow-up inspection.

▪ Genghis Khan Mongolian Grill, 3906 Bell St., had 8 critical violations during an Oct. 11 routine inspection.

▪ Johnny Jo’s Pizzeria, 1209 W. 47th St., had 8 critical violations during an Oct. 10 routine inspection.

▪ Jubaland Grill, 1315 Independence Ave., had 8 critical violations during an Oct. 7 routine inspection. It had no critical violations during an Oct. 13 follow-up inspection.

▪ Tokyo Japanese Steak House, 7-9 N.W. Barry Road, had 8 critical violations during an Oct. 6 routine inspection. It had 2 critical violations during an Oct. 14 follow-up inspection.
