HomeSlice Pizza & Pints is now under construction in the Crossroads.

Partners Peter Alvarez, Tara Marmie and Shawn Larson have gutted the former Dukes on Grand/Downtown Pizza space at 1501 Grand Blvd. for HomeSlice. They will put in a horseshoe-shaped bar and wood-fired pizza oven and plan to open by early December. Then they will work on a rooftop deck that they hope to open in time for March Madness.

Along with pizzas, HomeSlice also will offer sandwiches and salads.

Alvarez had been a manager at Margarita’s, which is co-owned by his uncle David Quirarte. He also opened the former Maya’s Mexican Bistro, 12921 State Line Road, with another couple. Larson has been in the restaurant and bar business in Kansas City for about 15 years.
