QuikTrip to expand in Lee’s Summit with ‘next-generation’ stores
The city of Lee’s Summit said it has approved a proposal for a new QuikTrip, and the company plans to remodel two other locations.
QuikTrip is investing more than $15 million in the locations.
A new next-generation store will open at Mulberry and Missouri 291 in 2017, with construction scheduled to start next week.
QuikTrip also will convert two stores — at Missouri 291 and Missouri 150 and 800 N.E. Woods Chapel Road — to its next-generation format in 2017.
The upgraded stores are about 5,700 square feet, about 1,000 square feet larger than average QuikTrips, and can include such amenities as outdoor dining areas, touchscreen ordering systems for hot and cold drinks, smoothies, soft-serve ice cream and coffee, as well as prepared food including pizzas, flatbreads and breakfast burritos.
The stores also have two entrances in the front and two side entrances for better traffic flow.
“We continue to grow. We are very fortunate,” said Mike Thornbrugh, spokesman for QuikTrip. “ We never stay stagnant, and we are always trying to get better.”
