National Police Week memorial service being held on May 13

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - As part of recognition of National Police Week, a memorial will be held for members of local law enforcement agencies to honor and remember officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Brendan McGinnis, a detective at the St. Joseph Police Department and president of Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge No. 3, will speak during the event.

The service is sponsored by Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge No. 3, the St. Joseph Police Department, Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H and other Northwest Missouri agencies. All families, friends and members of the public are invited to to support and show respect for fallen heroes.

The service will start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 at Civic Center Park located on 1100 Frederick Ave. The event will be moved inside of City Hall in the case of inclement weather.
