ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- Persisterhood St. Joseph will hold its semiannual tree dedication and walk at 10 a.m .on Saturday, May 9, along the Northwest Parkway where Marion Street intersects the Parkway.

According to a news release, Elizabeth Latosi-Sawin, who buys trees and supervises their planting for St. Joseph Parks and Recreation, will host the event, leading those present in a short walk along the sidewalk, stopping at each newly-planted tree (six in all), where donors and/or family members present may say a few words about those honored and remembered including the people of Minnesota who came together to stop ICE; St. Joseph's first and only woman mayor Glenda Kelly; Corinda Stallbaumer, who for many years, maintained the Lovers' Lane garden spots along the Parkway; and for deceased loved ones Julia Mullican, Sandra Jacobs and Polly and Tom Tatten.

This spring's dedication raises the total to 106 trees planted along the Northwest Parkway since 2017 by Persisterhood St. Joseph - a lasting legacy to those being remembered and/or honored. The dedication/walk will conclude by 11 a.m., and is open to the media, the public and friendly pets on leashes.
