Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States to host Pop Tab Palooza donation event
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States will host its second annual Pop Tab Palooza on Friday in the Ronald McDonald House parking lot, 3402 S. Jackson Ave.
Nearly 300 students from 11 schools across the Four-State Area will deliver their collected pop tabs, weigh their donations, learn about recycling and celebrate their efforts with ice cream, popcorn, photos and games. That will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
A community drop-off hour will follow from 2-3 p.m., welcoming businesses, clubs and individuals to contribute their own pop tab collections.
Ronald McDonald House Charities' ongoing recycling program raises awareness of the organization's mission throughout surrounding communities and offers an easy, tangible way for people of all ages to engage in philanthropy and environmental stewardship. The Pop Tab Palooza serves as both a celebration and an educational opportunity, highlighting the effect of small acts of generosity.
At the inaugural event last year, more than 1.5 million pop tabs were donated and recycled to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities programs.
"Our pop tab program is a powerful reminder that even the smallest actions can create something big," Whitley John, community engagement manager for Ronald McDonald House, said in a statement. "These tiny tabs may not seem like much on their own, but when a community comes together, they turn into real support for the families we serve. It's an opportunity for us to connect with local schools to share our mission, and for students to be part of something bigger than themselves."
The event is supported by Get Busy Livin'-The Dylan Meier Foundation, CMC Recycling, Hiland Dairy, McDonald's, Ozarks Coca-Cola, Resonation and Yard Card Party by Jessica.
