Man charged with second-degree murder after alleged assault in KCK
A Kansas City, Kansas, man has been charged with second-degree murder after the death of an aggravated battery victim near KCK’s Kensington neighborhood.
Perry Tilghman Jr., 31, was charged with second-degree murder in Wyandotte County court on Oct. 1, according to court documents.
At 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, Kansas City, Kansas, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Ridge Avenue on reports of a physical altercation between two men, according to a news release from KCKPD Media Relations Specialist Nancy Chartrand.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Leroy Alexander, 78, lying unconscious outside his residence with “apparent head trauma,” Chartrand said.
Alexander was taken to a hospital, where he died on Sept. 30 from his injuries, Chartrand said.
Tilghman is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on $150,000 bond, Chartrand said.
