Lee’s Summit police investigate after body found Sunday in woods near Blue Springs Lake

Police are investigating after a body was found just north of Blue Springs Lake on Sunday.

Lee’s Summit police discovered the body of an unidentified male at about 8 a.m. in a wooded area off U.S. 40 Highway, south of the Family Golf Park, near Blue Springs, Sgt. Chris Depue, a spokesman with the Lee’s Summit Police Department, said in an email Sunday evening.

Foul play was not suspected, Depue said.

“Detectives are investigating connections to a previous incident in this area, but have not been able to verify the connection at this time,” Depue said.

No other information was released.
