Missouri high school evacuated after bomb threat made on bathroom wall
Warrensburg High School, in Johnson County, Missouri, was evacuated following a bomb threat Monday.
The school based in Warrensburg, situated about 60 miles southeast of Kansas City, announced the threat in a letter to parents.
As a result of the threat, which included a specific time written on a bathroom wall, students and staff were evacuated, John Finnane, the district’s assistant superintendent for student services, told The Star.
The schools’ approximately 950 students were taken by bus to a secure location away from the buildings, he said.
A bomb assessment team from Whiteman Airforce Base responded to the school with bomb-sniffing dogs, Finnane said. Members of the Warrensburg Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
“Once the students are safely evacuated, information will be provided to WHS parents/guardians regarding the pick-up or return of the students to WHS, depending on the outcome of the WPD search,” the letter to parents read.
As of about 1:45 p.m. Monday, Finnane said the threat was still under investigation.

The District is aware of a written threat on a bathroom wall at Warrensburg High School. Out of an abundance of caution, WHS is being evacuated and WPD is on site.
Once the students are safely evacuated, information will be provided to WHS parents/guardians regarding the pick-up or return of the students to WHS, depending on the outcome of the WPD search.
