One dead after Saturday KCK fire

A Saturday morning fire in Kansas City, Kan., has left one person dead.

An elderly woman was found dead around 7 a.m. at the fire at 27th and Parkview. The woman’s name was not immediately released.

Deputy Chief and Fire Marshall John Droppelmann of the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department said upon arrival firefighters “went into fire attack mode and within 9 minutes, they had the fire knocked down” in the room the fire had consumed. They discovered the victim, then ensured there were no other residents were harmed.

A juvenile was able to escape the home with no injuries. A dog also died in the fire.
