“Air names” have been in high demand ever since beauty mogul Kylie Jenner and hip-hop artist Travis Scott decided to name their second child Aire Webster. They welcomed the baby boy on Feb. 2, 2022.

It was an unusual choice, considering the name “Aire” has not been in the top 1000 names for any year of birth since 1900, when the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) started tracking baby name data.

In fact, Aire wasn’t even the name Jenner and Scott assigned their baby at birth. They originally went with the name “Wolf Webster,” but decided to change it to “Aire” after having second thoughts.

While the name “Aire” still hasn’t found its way on that coveted list of popular baby names, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it start climbing the ranks at some point in the near future.

But at the same time, some parents don’t want to be a copycat. While they might like the idea of “air names” and names that mean “air,” “breath,” “wind” or “breeze,” they want something a little more unique.

If that sounds like you, then don’t worry—we’ve got exactly what you’re looking for.

A majority of the names above are either directly or indirectly related to the idea of air, wind, breezes, and breathing, but it’s okay to venture away from what’s normal and have a little fun with your baby’s name.

For example, you can name them Berlin after the popular band, who wrote the song “Take My Breath Away” for the 1986 film Top Gun. It ended up winning an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Donna Summer had a song called, “Love Is Just a Breath Away,” and The Police released a song called, “Every Breath You Take.” Likewise, Florence + The Machine have a song called, “Breath of Life.”

Air names are starting to gain popularity in the US thanks to Kylie Jenner, but not all parents are on board yet.
