Could this be the clue to the maple tree problem?
QUESTION: We did find a hole in the burgundy maple tree and wondered if this is the problem. Again, thank you for all your help. - Pat
ANSWER: The small hole is probably a spot where a branch was removed a while back. The tree has healed the best it can as bark is surrounding the hole. This spot would interrupt a small amount of vascular tissue but not enough to cause some of the issues you are describing. I would say this is secondary. - Dennis
