We overseed in early Sept, do we put the “winter” fertilizer on this year? Or just nothing?
Also, we have trees that are rubbing the roof and we planned to have them pruned this month so the ice and snow doesn’t rub against house all winter. should we or should we wait until spring. (I just read not to prune)

Yes, you should put down a winter fertilizer on your grass now. Before it snows would be great.
Although it is best to wait until late winter or early spring to prune most trees, you should definitely prune those branches that are rubbing against your roof. Any time a tree may cause structural damage, is best time to prune, and as soon as possible.
Thanks for two good questions.
